GUARANTEE

The Parts Market stands behind the parts we supply and provides a 3-month guarantee against manufacturing defects, unless a different guarantee period is specifically stated for the product.

The guarantee period begins from the date the order is delivered.

This guarantee applies to manufacturing defects in the part supplied by The Parts Market. It does not cover problems caused by incorrect installation, misuse, vehicle faults, normal wear and tear or other external causes.

MAKING A GUARANTEE CLAIM

If you believe a part has failed due to a manufacturing defect, please contact us before returning, dismantling further or disposing of the item.

To assess a guarantee claim, we may require:

  • Your order number
  • Part number
  • Vehicle make and model
  • VIN / chassis number where relevant
  • Engine code where relevant
  • Vehicle mileage at the time of installation
  • Vehicle mileage when the fault occurred
  • A description of the fault
  • Clear photographs or video showing the issue
  • Proof of professional installation where applicable
  • Garage invoice, mechanic's report or other supporting documentation

Additional information may be requested where required by the manufacturer or supplier.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION

Many automotive components require specialist knowledge, tools, measurements, settings or installation procedures.

For fitted mechanical, electrical and engine components, proof of professional installation may be required before a guarantee claim can be accepted.

Suitable evidence may include:

  • A garage invoice or receipt
  • Mechanic's report
  • Installation certificate
  • Workshop documentation
  • Other evidence confirming installation by a suitably qualified professional

This documentation may also be required so that we can submit the claim to the manufacturer or supplier for technical assessment.

INSPECTION & MANUFACTURER ASSESSMENT

A guarantee claim does not automatically mean that a manufacturing defect has been confirmed.

The affected part may need to be returned for inspection by:

  • The Parts Market
  • The manufacturer
  • The authorised distributor or supplier
  • An appointed technical assessor

Please do not return a part until return instructions and authorisation have been provided.

Where manufacturer assessment is required, the investigation may take additional time.

We will keep the customer informed where reasonably possible during the assessment process.

WHAT THE GUARANTEE COVERS

Where a manufacturing defect is confirmed, we will normally offer one of the following, as appropriate:

  • Replacement of the defective part, subject to availability; or
  • Refund of the purchase price of the defective part

Where the claim is accepted as a genuine manufacturing defect, reasonable return shipping arrangements will be dealt with by The Parts Market.

WHAT THE GUARANTEE DOES NOT COVER

The guarantee does not normally cover failure or damage resulting from:

  • Incorrect or improper installation
  • Installation by an unsuitable or unqualified person where professional fitment is reasonably required
  • Incorrect vehicle application
  • Installation of the wrong part
  • Failure to follow manufacturer fitting instructions
  • Incorrect torque settings, clearances or adjustment
  • Incorrect assembly
  • Contamination by dirt, debris or foreign material
  • Oil starvation or insufficient lubrication
  • Incorrect oil, coolant, fuel or other operating fluids
  • Overheating
  • Failure of another vehicle component
  • Blocked oilways, cooling passages or fuel systems
  • Accident, impact or external damage
  • Misuse, abuse or neglect
  • Improper maintenance
  • Vehicle modification or tuning
  • Competition, motorsport or racing use
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Corrosion or environmental damage not caused by a manufacturing defect
  • Continued operation of the vehicle after a fault or warning becomes apparent
  • Modification, alteration or unauthorised repair of the supplied part
  • Damage occurring during removal after installation

A claim may also be declined where the part cannot reasonably be inspected or where insufficient evidence is available to establish a manufacturing defect.

RELATED COMPONENTS

When replacing an automotive component, associated systems and related parts may also need to be inspected, serviced or replaced.

For example, failure of one component may be caused by an underlying issue elsewhere in the engine, cooling, lubrication, fuel, electrical or vehicle system.

The Parts Market cannot guarantee a part against failure caused by another defective or incorrectly operating component.

LABOUR & ASSOCIATED COSTS

Our guarantee applies to the part purchased from The Parts Market.

Unless required by applicable law, the guarantee does not cover associated or consequential costs such as:

  • Labour charges
  • Installation charges
  • Removal or refitting costs
  • Diagnostic charges
  • Workshop fees
  • Recovery or towing charges
  • Vehicle hire
  • Loss of vehicle use
  • Loss of earnings or business
  • Travel expenses
  • Damage to other vehicle components
  • Any other indirect, incidental or consequential losses

Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

REPLACEMENT PARTS

Where a replacement is supplied following an approved guarantee claim, the replacement does not normally create a new guarantee period beyond any rights required by applicable law.

Any applicable guarantee will continue in accordance with the original purchase and the relevant legal requirements.

RETURN OF CLAIMED PARTS

Where a part must be returned for inspection, it should be securely packaged to prevent further damage in transit.

Please follow the return instructions provided by The Parts Market.

Parts returned without prior authorisation may delay the assessment process.

CLAIMS FOUND NOT TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT

If inspection determines that the failure was not caused by a manufacturing defect, the guarantee claim may be declined.

Where appropriate, the customer may be responsible for the cost of returning the inspected part and any other direct costs associated with an unsuccessful claim, subject to applicable law.

STATUTORY RIGHTS

This guarantee is provided in addition to any statutory rights that apply to the customer.

Nothing in this Guarantee Policy is intended to exclude or limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.

HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM

Please contact us through our Contact Us page and provide as much information as possible about the issue.

Do not dispose of the affected part until the claim has been fully assessed.
