CUSTOMS DUTIES & TAXES

The Parts Market supplies automotive parts to customers worldwide.

When goods are shipped internationally, the destination country may apply customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, clearance charges or other local fees before the shipment can be delivered.

Unless specifically stated otherwise at checkout, these charges are not included in the product price or shipping charge paid to The Parts Market.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY

The customer is responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, clearance fees, brokerage charges or other local charges imposed by the destination country.

These charges are determined by local authorities and may vary depending on factors including:

  • Destination country
  • Product classification
  • HS tariff code
  • Country of origin
  • Declared customs value
  • Local tax and import regulations

The Parts Market does not control these charges and cannot reliably predict the amount that may be payable.

We recommend checking with your local customs authority before ordering if you are unsure whether additional charges may apply.

PAYMENT OF DUTIES & TAXES

Where customs charges are payable, the courier company, customs authority or their appointed clearance agent may contact the recipient directly.

Payment may be required before the shipment is released for delivery.

Customers are responsible for responding promptly to requests for:

  • Customs duty or tax payments
  • Import documentation
  • Identification
  • Tax or registration numbers
  • Customs clearance information
  • Any other information required by the destination country

Failure to provide the required information or payment may delay delivery or cause the shipment to be returned.

CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS

All international shipments are accompanied by the appropriate customs documentation.

The Parts Market will declare goods accurately and in accordance with applicable customs requirements, including the product description, quantity, value, country of origin and HS tariff information where required.

We cannot:

  • Declare an artificially reduced value
  • Mark a commercial order as a gift
  • Provide false or misleading customs information
  • Alter documentation for the purpose of avoiding duties or taxes

Requests of this nature will not be accepted.

REFUSED OR UNPAID CUSTOMS CHARGES

If a customer refuses to pay customs duties, taxes or clearance charges, or fails to complete the required customs process, the shipment may be:

  • Held by customs
  • Returned to The Parts Market
  • Abandoned or disposed of by the courier or customs authority

Where a shipment is returned to us because customs charges were not paid or clearance requirements were not completed, any refund will only be considered after the goods have been received back and inspected.

Where permitted by applicable law, the following costs may be deducted from any refund:

  • Original outgoing shipping charges
  • Return shipping charges
  • Customs or clearance charges billed to The Parts Market
  • Storage, handling or administration charges
  • Any other direct costs incurred as a result of the failed delivery or return

The Parts Market cannot absorb international courier and customs costs arising from a customer's decision not to complete import clearance.

UNCOLLECTED SHIPMENTS

If a shipment remains uncollected with a courier, customs authority or collection point and is subsequently returned to us, the same principles apply.

Any refund may be reduced by the costs incurred in sending and returning the shipment, where permitted by applicable law.

Customers should therefore monitor tracking information and respond promptly to communications from the courier or customs authority.

CUSTOMS DELAYS

Customs clearance is controlled by the authorities in the destination country.

The Parts Market and the courier cannot guarantee how quickly a shipment will be released once it enters customs processing.

Customs delays may occur due to:

  • Inspections
  • Documentation checks
  • Import restrictions
  • Requests for additional information
  • Duty or tax payment
  • Local public holidays
  • Government processing delays

A customs delay does not by itself mean that the shipment is lost or that the courier service has failed.

DUTIES & TAXES ARE GENERALLY NON-REFUNDABLE BY TPM

Customs duties, VAT, import taxes, brokerage fees and similar charges paid directly to a government authority, courier, customs broker or other third party are generally not refundable by The Parts Market.

If a customer believes they are entitled to recover import duties or taxes after returning an item, they may need to apply directly to the relevant customs or tax authority in their country.

RETURNS

Customs charges are separate from our return and refund arrangements.

If an item is returned to The Parts Market, any duties, taxes or clearance charges previously paid by the customer are not automatically refundable by us.

Please refer to our Return & Refund Policy for information regarding product returns, return shipping and refunds.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

By placing an international order with The Parts Market, the customer accepts responsibility for complying with the import rules and requirements of the destination country.

Customers are encouraged to contact us before ordering if they require assistance with product information, part identification or documentation.
